To make it easier for its users to celebrate New Year 2024 using the platform, WhatsApp has introduced a New Year update that brings special stickers, reactions, and video call filters to the platform. The update is now rolling out to all users and it will be available for a limited time. It aims to enhance festive communication as users prepare to welcome 2025. The update has started rolling out on Android and iOS devices and will be available from December 20 to January 3.

WhatsApp has introduced video call effects and background filters that align with New Year celebrations. Users can add these filters during video calls to enhance their experience.

The update includes a New Year sticker pack and avatar stickers. These options make it easier to wish friends and family during the festive period.

Message reactions using celebratory emojis now appear in an animated format. This feature adds an interactive element to messaging, allowing users to express themselves more dynamically.

Users can access these new features by updating WhatsApp to the latest version through the Play Store (Android) or the App Store (iOS). Once updated, the sticker packs and animations will appear in the app, while video call effects can be accessed during active calls.

Start a video call with someone and tap on the magic wand in the top right corner. Select the newly added video call filters and tap on it to apply.
