A bug in WhatsApp’s View Once feature allowed users to view a disappearing image or video more than once. The bug was found in iPhones and has currently been fixed. Now, disappearing messages are meant to be viewed only once. You cannot see it again and again after receiving it like normal messages.

What was the bug?

The bug affected only iOS users and let them bypass the "View Once" restriction.Usually, when someone sends a "View Once" photo or video, it should disappear immediately after the receiver opens it. However, due to this flaw, users could still access these files by going to:Settings Storage and Data Manage Storage and by sorting media by "Newest."

How was it discovered?

The bug was first discovered by security researcher Ramshath, who reported the issue in a blog post on Medium.WhatsApp quickly acknowledged the flaw and issued a fix. Notably, this is not the first time "View Once" had security issues—last December, a similar problem was discovered on WhatsApp Web.

What should you do?

If you are an iPhone user ,you should update your WhatsApp immediately from the App Store to make sure your "View Once" messages remain private as intended.
