Warner Bros. Games has split into game development divisions, each dedicated to one of its four major creative franchises of Harry Potter, the DC Universe, Game of Thrones and Mortal Kombat. The Hogwarts Legacy maker has also promoted three studio heads to senior vice president roles across its development, production and tech operations, as per a report by Variety.

As part of the company-wide restructuring, Warner Bros Games Montréal studio head Yves Lachance has been promoted to senior vice president, development, and will lead the teams working on new Harry Potter and Game of Thrones titles. Also, NetherRealm studio head Shaun Himmerick will now oversee the Mortal Kombat and DC games as senior vice president, development, while Warner Bros. Games New York studio chief Steven Flenory will oversee game and publishing technology, customer service, quality assurance and user research in his new role has senior vice president, central tech & services, says the report.

All three newly-promoted senior vice presidents will report directly to J.B. Perrette, Warner Bros Discovery’s CEO of global streaming and games.

Warner Bros. Games' parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, announced earlier this month that it would split into two companies: WBD Streaming & Studios and WBD Global Networks. The former will be headed by CEO David Zaslav and the latter by CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels. The split is expected to be completed by mid-2026 and will cause Warner Bros. Games to come under WBD Streaming & Studios.

The restructuring of the Warner Bros. video game division comes in the wake of Warner Bros. Interactive president David Haddad's exit in January after over a decade-long tenure and several internal studios being shut down in the next month. In late February, Warner Bros. announced the shutdown of three of its game development studios: Monolith Productions, Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games San Diego. Shutting down Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War maker Monolith Productions meant that the first-ever single-player Wonder Woman game the studio was working on would also never see the light of day.

At that time, in a statement given to PC Gamer, a Warner Bros. spokesperson had mentioned about the company doubling down on the “best games possible” with its four major creative franchises: "We have had to make some very difficult decisions to structure our development studios and investments around building the best games possible with our key franchises—Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, DC and Game of Thrones.”
