At a recent event in China, Vivo introduced its latest AI advancements and showcased its first mixed reality (MR) headset, Vivo Vision. The company aims to expand its presence in the AI and robotics space, leveraging its experience in AI models, imaging, and real-time spatial computing.
Hu Baishan, Chief Operating Officer at Vivo, announced the establishment of the Vivo Robotics Lab, which will focus on developing the “brain” and “eyes” of robots. This includes advancements in AI learning models and computer vision technology. Vivo intends to develop consumer-focused robotic products for personal and home use, moving beyond lab research to practical applications, said Hu.
The launch of Vivo Vision comes as major tech companies increase their investments in mixed reality. Apple has already entered the space with its Vision Pro, while Samsung and Google have also revealed their plans for MR headsets. Vivo’s entry into this segment highlights growing competition in the field.
Hu emphasised that Vivo’s approach will focus on gradual improvements and real-world applications, ensuring that innovation addresses practical user needs. The company plans to iterate on its product development based on feedback and evolving use cases.
While details on availability and pricing remain undisclosed, it is clear that Vivo is looking to expand beyond smartphones and integrate AI-driven solutions into everyday consumer technology.
