Google Pay has received six new features to make UPI payments easier.

At the ongoing Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024 event, Google has announced several new features for Google Pay in India. The company has introduced six new features, including UPI Circle support, ClickPay QR, UPI Vouchers and more. Here’s the complete list.

UPI Circle or Delegate Payments support

UPI Circle support is finally coming to Google Pay. The feature allows users to add family members and friends as “secondary” users to their UPI Circle either as Partial Delegation or Full Delegation and make payments using their account to a certain limit.

UPI Vouchers or eRupi support

UPI voucher allows users to provide prepaid vouchers linked to a mobile number that allows users to make payments without the need to add a bank account on UPI. The vouchers feature was launched during the Covid era and has been extended to more sectors, including existing UPI users, government bodies and corporate organisations.

ClickPay QR Scan for bill payments

It is a customised QR code for bill payments that billers or service providers can provide to users. The feature enables hassle-free and seamless payment without the need to remember the bill account details or consumer IDs. Users can pay their bills by scamming a ClickPay QR code scanner right from their Google Pay app.

Prepaid utilities payment

Google has partnered with NPCI Bharat BillPay to enable prepaid utility payments to Google Pay’s existing recurring payment categories. The new feature will let users discover and link their prepaid utility providers or aggregators such as housing, and societies and pay via UPI and make the payment. This also enables seamless tracking for all recurring utility payments with a unified checklist on the Google Pay app.

Tap & Pay with RuPay cards

In partnership with NPCI, Google Pay has finally introduced the Tap & Pay payments for RuPay cards. The feature allows users to use their RuPay cards to make payments directly using their smartphone via the Google Pay app without needing the actual physical card.

Autopay for UPI Lite

Google Pay has added an automatic top-up feature for UPI Lite accounts when the balance in the wallet drops below a certain amount. The feature aims to offer convenience to users and ensure that the wallet never runs out of balance.
