Twitter’s gone, but its iconic bird logo can be yours if you have $40,000 to spare

Twitter does not exist because it is X now, but its famous blue bird can still be yours—if you have the money. One of the giant Twitter bird logos that once sat on the company’s San Francisco headquarters is now up for auction. The sign is huge—12 feet by 8 feet—and weighs 560 pounds. Right now, bids have already passed $21,000, and auction house RR Auction thinks it could sell for as much as $40,000, according to a report by Engadget.

But buying it is just the first step. The new owner also has to figure out how to move it from a storage facility in San Francisco. And that won’t be easy. A YouTube video shows that a crane and a full team of workers were needed just to take it down. So, unless you have a crane or a moving crew ready, be prepared for some extra costs.

This isn’t the first time Twitter’s office items have been sold off. After Musk took over in 2022, the company auctioned off everything from office chairs to espresso machines—and even more bird statues. A smaller version of the logo sold for a whopping $100,000 last year. Another large bird sign was also sold then, but the price wasn’t shared.

So, if you’ve got money to spare and love the old Twitter days, this is your chance to own a piece of internet history. Whether you hang it on your wall, put it in your backyard, or just show it off to friends, one thing’s for sure, you will have a great story to tell everyone who visits your home.
