Tinder has introduced a new feature called ‘Double Date’ that lets two friends team up and match with other pairs on the dating app. The move aims to make dating more fun, less pressure-filled, and more social, transforming the traditional dating experience into a group activity.
Tinder Double Date feature: How it works
Using Double Date is a simple process. All you need to do is tap the Double Date icon located in the top right corner of the main card stack. From there, you can select up to three friends to team up with. Once you’re teamed up, you and your friend can match with other pairs together, adding a social twist to the dating journey.
If both pairs like each other, a group chat opens immediately, allowing all four people to connect and start a conversation. The small talk, often a hurdle in one-on-one dating, becomes more comfortable and less intimidating when you’re experiencing it alongside a friend.
Higher engagement during testing
Tinder reports that the feature has already made a strong debut in testing. Women were nearly 3 times more likely to match with a pair in Double Date than when using the traditional matching process. Furthermore, individual messages were 35% more frequently exchanged in group conversations. The data highlights a clear rise in engagement when people match in pairs instead of alone.
Availability
Tinder is currently making Double Date available in the USA and select markets. The company plans to roll it out globally by the first part of July, reflecting its ongoing mission to innovate and create more social, lighthearted ways for people to connect.
