Snap Inc. and Perplexity AI have announced a major partnership that will integrate Perplexity’s AI-powered answer engine directly into Snapchat, giving the app’s nearly 1 billion monthly active users a new way to explore topics and learn from verified sources.
The feature is set to roll out globally in early 2026 and will appear inside Snapchat’s existing Chat interface. Users will be able to ask questions and receive clear, conversational responses without leaving the app. Snap says the collaboration is part of its broader effort to make artificial intelligence more personal and integrated into users’ daily conversations.
Under the deal, Perplexity will pay Snap about $400 million over one year in a mix of cash and equity as the feature expands worldwide. Revenue from the partnership is expected to begin flowing in 2026.
“Millions of people connect and discover the world through Snapchat,” said Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity. “By bringing Perplexity to Snapchat, we’re able to serve that curiosity directly where it occurs.”
Snap CEO Evan Spiegel called the move a step toward making AI “more personal, social, and fun,” adding that the company hopes to collaborate with more AI innovators in the future.
Perplexity’s integration will complement, not replace, Snapchat’s existing My AI chatbot, serving as an answer engine that sources real-time, credible information. Snap says the partnership marks the beginning of a broader plan to position Snapchat as a trusted hub for AI-driven discovery and learning.
