Skyscanner has introduced a new app-exclusive feature, DROPS, to help travellers find flight deals and discounts on flight ticket bookings. The feature is available in Hindi and English and the feature highlights the flight ticket price drop by a minimum value of 20% compared to the last lowest price in seven days.
DROPS feature and how it works
With flight prices being a major concern for Indian travellers, Skyscanner’s Travel Trends 2025 Report found that 62% of Indian travellers prioritise cost when booking flights. The new DROPS feature aims to address this by scanning price drops daily and offering real-time savings. By logging into the Skyscanner app, users can access a list of DROPS from nearby airports, ensuring they do not miss out on discounted fares.
Skyscanner analyzed DROPS activity in India during January 2025 and identified several trends:
Most popular day for DROPS: Fridays recorded the highest number of DROPS, helping travellers start their weekend with savings.
Timing matters: 38% of DROPS were published before 9:00 AM, indicating that early risers had better chances of securing discounts.
Top domestic and international destinations: Goa saw the highest number of DROPS domestically, while Bangkok led international destinations. Other top destinations included Prayagraj, Almaty, Dubai, and Singapore.
Biggest average savings by destination
Among destinations with at least 50 DROPS, Tokyo offered the highest average savings at Rs 20,988, followed by Dubai (₹15,304) and Prayagraj (Rs 13,008).
Mohit Joshi, Travel and Destinations Expert at Skyscanner, said, “Helping cost-conscious travelers plan and book their trips with ease and confidence is at the heart of Skyscanner. Features like DROPS make it easier than ever to discover the best deals and take the stress out of trip planning.”
