India’s women’s cricket team was congratulated by two of Silicon Valley’s biggest names. After India’s thrilling World Cup victory over South Africa, tech leaders Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai took to social media to celebrate the historic win.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella called it “a truly historic day for women’s cricket,” praising the Indian team for their resilience and spirit. “Women in Blue = World Champions! Respect to South Africa for making their first-ever final. New chapters written, barriers broken, legends born,” he posted, echoing the sentiment of millions of fans celebrating across India.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai, who’s known for his love of cricket, also joined in with a heartfelt message. “That was a nail-biting women’s World Cup final — memories of 1983 and 2011 indeed. Congrats to Team India! I’m sure this will inspire a whole new generation. Great tournament from South Africa too,” he wrote.

The Women in Blue clinched the title after defeating South Africa, marking India’s first-ever women’s World Cup win — a moment already being hailed as one of the greatest in Indian sporting history.

Nadella and Pichai, both Indian-born global tech leaders, are fervent cricket fans and celebrated the momentous occasion.
