Galaxy AI since the start of this year has been appreciated by most tech enthusiasts, as it represents a new generation of on-device artificial intelligence tools and provides features like real-time translation and image generation. Until now, Galaxy AI hasn't made it past phones, tablets, or Samsung’s latest wearable devices. However, things are about to change, as the Korean tech giant has announced new AI capabilities for its smart home appliances.
The most intriguing AI capability is the inclusion of AI-generated wallpapers for Samsung Family Hub refrigerators in the US and Korean markets. This feature will allow users to pick a theme from seven categories and one of six art styles to create a custom wallpaper based on their surroundings or likings.
Once the new wallpaper is created, a user can apply it on the fridge’s cover screen or whiteboard. They can even store these custom wallpapers or modify them for future use. In case you don't know, Samsung's Family Hub refrigerators are equipped with a 32-inch display and it runs on Tizen OS. However, Samsung allows only up to 5 Generative AI images to be created every day.
Additionally, with the help of Bixby (Samsung’s voice assistant), a user can provide complex commands to clean up their laundry on the washing machine before any specific event. The new AI update also allows users to ask follow-up questions about energy usage or operating costs without repeating context.
All of these new Galaxy AI features are currently available on Samsung’s Bespoke 4-Door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub, the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, and the newly launched Freestanding Air Conditioner from August 27. Samsung will also showcase all these new features during IFA 2024 in Berlin next month.
