Samsung is preparing to roll out its next major software update, One UI 8.5, alongside the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026. A recent leak suggests that the update will introduce a significant addition for mobile videographers. Samsung’s stock video editor app may soon gain support for Look-Up Table (LUT) profiles, designed to simplify Log video editing directly on Galaxy smartphones.
LUT integration in the video editor
According to details shared by tipster PhoneArt (known as UniverseIce on X), One UI 8.5 is currently in testing with five built-in LUT profiles. These styles—Standard, Blockbuster, Coming-of-Age, Romance, and Thriller—are expected to apply distinct cinematic tones to Log video with a single tap. The update will allow users to preview each LUT in real time, compare them against raw Log footage, and apply changes before finalising the edit.
Each LUT alters colour balance, saturation, and brightness to create unique looks. While Standard and Blockbuster appear to deliver more vivid tones, the others offer subtle cinematic filters. Processing speeds will depend on video length, but shorter clips are expected to render quickly.
Background on Log video
Samsung introduced the Log video feature with the Galaxy S25 series earlier in 2025. It was later extended to older devices such as the Galaxy S24 Ultra via the One UI 7 update. With One UI 8.5, Samsung is expected to integrate LUT support directly into the native video editor, making advanced colour grading accessible without third-party software.
Availability and more features
The LUT profiles are expected to debut with the Galaxy S26 Ultra and could also reach select older models through the One UI 8.5 rollout. Reports indicate that Samsung is currently testing the build on international variants of the Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S25, and the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Apart from LUT integration, One UI 8.5 may also refresh the user interface with new lock screen clock designs and blurred backgrounds for notifications. Together, these changes underline Samsung’s strategy to enhance both visual creativity and day-to-day usability across its flagship lineup.
