Samsung Galaxy XR headset reportedly to launch in more countries next year

Samsung introduced its first-ever Android extended reality (XR) headset, the Galaxy XR, last month. The headset went on sale only in South Korea and the United States at the time of launch. However, this could eventually change soon, as according to a report, Samsung is planning a global expansion for its Apple Vision Pro competitor, with more countries set to join the list.

Samsung Galaxy XR headset tipped to launch in more regions

A SamMobile report claims that Samsung will bring the Galaxy XR to Germany, France, Canada, and the UK in 2026. Moreover, the report also adds that the availability could expand to more regions based on production capacity, and as more mixed reality apps become available.

This phased release approach with the Galaxy XR is reportedly being done by Samsung to evaluate market demand and performance before a proper unveiling in certain popular regions. Moreover, this strategic release plan could help the device compete with models like the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest Pro, as the augmented reality space grows in the coming years.

To recall, the Galaxy XR was announced at a Galaxy Unpacked event last month, priced at $1,799 (around Rs 1,58,000) for the 16GB + 256GB variant. It is powered by a Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset and runs on Google's Android XR platform. Further, the device features micro-OLED displays and claims to offer up to 2.5 hours of video playback time on a single charge.
