Samsung has launched its Galaxy S25 Ultra in India at a starting price of Rs 1,29,999. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has seen a price cut officially and is currently available at Rs 95000 on Amazon.

Considering, that both are Samsung’s flagships and offer top-notch features, including a powerful processor, a 200MP quad rear camera setup, S Pen support and even Galaxy AI features.

The similarities are enough to keep you confused while making the purchase decision and whether you should go with S25 Ultra – the latest and greatest from the company or choose last year’s Galaxy S24 Ulltra which appears to be a value-for-money offering at the reduced price.

We’ve compared both to help you conclude.

Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Galaxy S24 Ultra: Design and display

Galaxy S25 Ultra has gone through some design changes over the Galaxy S24 Ultra and while the changes are modest, it feels slightly more polished and more comfortable to hold. For instance, the rounded edges are comfortable to hold and don’t put a dent in the palm while holding it.

Also, the flat rails and flat display add to the grip. The phone feels grippier than the S24 Ultra.

That’s not it, the Galaxy S25 Ultra also features slimmer bezels which resulted in a slightly bigger display 6.9-inch vs 6.8 on the S24 Ultra. Also, both the phones come with Gorilla Glass Armor coating at the top for reduced reflection and added durability. The S25 Ultra has the second generation of Armor coating.

In terms of overall quality, the Galaxy S25 Ultra has a bright display and it also includes a ProScaller technology for crisp text and videos and also offers improved viewing experience overall. That said, the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s isn’t bad at all, it is just that the Galaxy S25 Ultra display is slight better in comparison.

Galaxy S25 Ultra is powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy and the Galaxy S245 Ultra is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. The newer chip comes with improved efficiency, better thermal management and improved NPU for handling AI tasks.

Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 8 Gen 3 is also a pretty powerful chip, only slightly short when compared to the 8 Elite. It can also handle all the tasks and performances. It’s just that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be more efficient and relatively faster compared to S24 Ultra.
Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Galaxy S24 Ultra: Camera
The new 50MP ultra-wide sensor on Galaxy S25 Ultra makes a big difference in the camera experience overall. That said, the phone’s updated camera setup along with the new ProVisual engine makes the camera experience seamless on the S24 Ultra.

Although, the primary sensor on both phones is 200MP other sensors are also similar on both phones. So, apart from the ultrawide shots, the camera quality on both phones are comparable.

One UI 7 with Android 15 runs out of the box in Galaxy S25 Ultra. The S24 Ultra runs on an older version of One UI. However, Samsung will push the update on the S24 Ultra in the coming weeks and most of the features – including Galaxy AI – features will make its way to the S24 Ultra.

But, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will receive an extra year of updates over S24 Ultra and that’s just future-proofing.

Well, if you are in for the latest and greatest phone that has everything that the industry has to offer in terms of hardware, software features and even AI features, then the Galaxy S25 Ultra is the phone you should buy. But, if you are fine trading some of the features for slightly reduced price, then the Galaxy S24 Ultra will do just fine for you.
