Samsung will unveil its new mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy M17 5G, in India today, October 10. Positioned as the successor to the Galaxy M16 5G, which debuted earlier this year, the upcoming device is expected to bring design and performance upgrades while remaining in the affordable 5G segment.
Price in India
Industry reports indicate that the Galaxy M17 5G will be priced below Rs 15,000, keeping it aligned with Samsung’s competitive pricing strategy for its M-series lineup. Its predecessor, the Galaxy M16 5G, was launched at Rs 11,499 for the base 4GB + 128GB variant, and the new model is likely to follow a similar approach with multiple storage options.
Availability
Following its official announcement, the Galaxy M17 5G is expected to be available for purchase through Amazon India, which already has a dedicated microsite revealing several details about the phone’s design and specifications.
Features
The Galaxy M17 5G is confirmed to feature a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Samsung has also confirmed IP54 certification for limited dust and water resistance. The phone is said to measure 7.5mm in thickness and could arrive in Moonlight Silver and Sapphire Black colour options.
Under the hood, the device may use Samsung’s Exynos 1330 processor, paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It is expected to run One UI 7 based on Android 15, offering new AI-powered features such as Google’s Circle to Search.
Cameras and battery
The smartphone will feature a 50MP primary rear camera with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), accompanied by 5MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro lenses. On the front, users can expect a 13MP selfie camera.
Powering the device will likely be a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging, ensuring a balance between performance and endurance for daily use.
Samsung’s Galaxy M17 5G launch will expand its budget 5G portfolio in India, targeting consumers looking for a mix of affordability and modern camera features.
