Samsung Electronics has unveiled the next phase of its Galaxy AI strategy, positioning it as an open, integrated and multi-agent ecosystem designed to simplify everyday tasks. The company says Galaxy AI is built to reduce effort across daily routines by working at the operating system level rather than being confined to individual apps. The aim is to make AI assistance feel more natural, contextual and seamless.

A shift towards multiple AI agents

Samsung cites recent research showing that nearly eight in 10 users now rely on more than two types of AI agents depending on the task at hand. As AI tools become more embedded in daily life, users are increasingly switching between different assistants for search, productivity, reminders and content creation.

In response, Samsung is evolving Galaxy AI to support a choice of integrated agents. Instead of forcing users into a single AI experience, the system will allow different agents to operate cohesively within the Galaxy environment.

“Galaxy AI acts as an orchestrator, bringing together different forms of AI into a single, natural, cohesive experience,” said Won-Joon Choi, President, COO and Head of the R&D Office, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics.

System-level AI, not app-level

Samsung emphasises that Galaxy AI operates at a framework level. Rather than requiring users to jump between apps or repeat commands, the system understands context and works in the background.

This approach allows Samsung to integrate partner services while maintaining a consistent user experience. One such partner is Perplexity AI, which will become an additional AI agent on upcoming flagship Galaxy devices.

Users will be able to activate Perplexity via a dedicated wake phrase, “Hey Plex,” or through quick-access controls such as pressing and holding the side button.

Deep integration across Galaxy apps

Perplexity’s AI agent will be embedded across select Samsung apps, including Samsung Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder and Calendar, as well as certain third-party applications.

Samsung says this integration will enable smoother, multi-step workflows. For example, users could gather information, save notes, set reminders and organise schedules without manually switching between different apps.

By handling orchestration at the system level, Galaxy AI aims to deliver a more fluid and flexible experience across the device.

What this means for users

Samsung’s move reflects a broader industry shift towards open AI ecosystems rather than single-assistant dominance. By positioning Galaxy AI as a coordinator of multiple agents, the company is betting that users value choice and flexibility over exclusivity.

Details about supported devices and timelines will be announced at a later stage. But the direction is clear: Samsung wants Galaxy AI to be the connective layer that ties together different forms of intelligence into one cohesive experience.
