Developers Aniplex and JOYCITY, in partnership with Capcom, have announced a new Resident Evil mobile game. Titled “Resident Evil: Survival Unit”, the mobile horror game is a squad-based survival horror real-time strategy title and is set to arrive on Android and iOS by the end of 2025, Executive Producer Shinji Hashimoto announced at the online showcase for the game.

Resident Evil Survival Unit: How the story begins
The story of Resident Evil: Survival Unit begins when the protagonist wakes up in a mysterious hospital after being used as a test subject for an experiment by the Umbrella Corporation. While you try to escape from the hospital, the mobile horror game’s story will take you to a parallel world where you’ll come across well-known characters from the Resident Evil franchise. Team up with them in real-time strategy battles and fight to survive. The parallel storyline featured in Resident Evil: Survival Unit is different from the ones seen in previous Resident Evil games, Hashimoto noted in his address.

As Resident Evil: Survival Unit is a squad-based real-time strategy game, you’ll need to control and assign actions to multiple characters in real time. The right use of character skills and environmental mechanics is key to survive in real-time defensive battles against powerful creatures.

Resident Evil Survival Unit: The Mansion is your base
"The Mansion" is your base of operations in Resident Evil: Survival Unit. It serves both as a “strategic stronghold” and a home for the iconic Resident Evil characters in the game. At the Mansion, the characters can interact with each other. The Mansion also houses the "Weapons Merchant", from where you can purchase items.

While the developers have yet to release the full list of playable Resident Evil characters, three are confirmed: Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield and Jill Valentine. More will join the roster soon. The squad-based Resident Evil game will allow you to form cross-title teams with characters from different Resident Evil games.
