
Redmi has expanded its performance-oriented smartphone portfolio in China with the launch of the Redmi Turbo 5 and Redmi Turbo 5 Max. The new Turbo series devices focus on combining large-capacity batteries with MediaTek’s latest processors, targeting users who prioritise sustained performance and long battery life. While both models debut first in China, similar Redmi Turbo phones have previously been introduced in global markets under different branding.
Redmi Turbo 5 Max specifications and features
The Redmi Turbo 5 Max is positioned as the higher-end model in the lineup. It features a 6.83-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is rated for peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits. Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s processor, marking its first commercial appearance. The chipset is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.
The phone runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3, based on Android 16. For imaging, it offers a dual rear camera setup, led by a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 600 primary sensor, supported by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. On the front, the device includes a 20-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
Battery capacity is a key highlight of the Turbo 5 Max. It houses a 9,000mAh battery, the largest battery ever used in a Redmi smartphone. The device supports 100W fast charging. Additional features include an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.

The standard Redmi Turbo 5 comes with a 6.59-inch OLED display offering 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, with peak brightness levels similar to the Max variant. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The software experience remains the same, with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
In the camera department, the Turbo 5 features a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 primary sensor alongside an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. A 20-megapixel front camera is included for selfies. The phone is backed by a 7,560mAh battery and supports 100W fast charging.
Price and availability
The Redmi Turbo 5 Max is priced starting at CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs 33,000) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The Redmi Turbo 5 starts at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs 26,500) for the same configuration. Both smartphones are currently available only in China, with no official confirmation on global or India launch timelines.
