Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is set to introduce the next-generation update for its best-selling Note series, with the upcoming Redmi Note 15 Pro lineup. The company has yet to announce the exact launch date. However, Redmi General Manager Wang Teng Thomas has confirmed on Weibo that the Redmi Note 15 Pro series will be unveiled in China this month. Now, a new leak suggests that the top-end Redmi Note 15 Pro+ may not get the performance bump many were expecting, and may retain the same chipset as last year’s Note 14 Pro+.
Redmi Note 15 Pro+ to stick with Snapdragon 7s Gen3 chipset
According to X tipster PaperKing13, the upcoming Redmi Note 15 Pro+ will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC. Interestingly, this is the same chipset powering the current Redmi Note 14 Pro+, which was launched last year. This could be a bit disappointing for users who were thinking of getting a performance upgrade on the newer model, since Qualcomm has introduced the chipset’s upgrade in the form of Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.
The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ is also expected to be the first-ever Redmi-branded phone to support a satellite communication system. Moreover, the phone could get an upgraded screen and cameras alongside better durability. More details regarding the smartphone are likely to emerge closer to launch, especially since the series is expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
Previous leaks have claimed that other smartphones in the lineup, including the Note 15 5G, could pack another Qualcomm chip. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G could be equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity chipset. Beyond these smartphones, Redmi is reportedly working on 4G versions of the Note 15 and Note 15 Pro as well.
