Google CEO Sundar Pichai congratulated India after the national cricket team won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The message was posted on social media platform X shortly after India secured the title in the 2026 tournament.

India defeated New Zealand in the final to lift the trophy. The match was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where India posted a total of 255 runs and restricted New Zealand to 159, sealing the win by 96 runs. The victory allowed India to retain the T20 World Cup title and added another international trophy to the team’s record.

What Sundar Pichai said

In his post on X, Pichai congratulated the Indian team and also acknowledged the teams that reached the semifinal stage of the tournament.

“Congrats India on winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup! chose the wrong game to go watch :) what a stadium and atmosphere. Well played to the other semi finalists, SA, Eng and Nz!! Also so exciting to see the game expand to so many countries and congrats to ICC for a great tournament!”

His message highlighted the atmosphere inside the stadium during the tournament and referenced the increasing participation of countries in international T20 cricket.

India’s victory in the 2026 edition of the T20 World Cup came after a campaign that saw the team progress through the group and knockout stages before reaching the final against New Zealand.

The tournament featured several teams competing in the T20 format and was organised by the International Cricket Council. India’s win also meant the team successfully defended the title it won in the previous edition of the tournament.

India’s victory triggered reactions across social media, with fans, athletes, and public figures posting congratulatory messages. Pichai’s post gained thousands of likes and reposts within hours of being published.

Cricket remains one of the most followed sports in India, and the team’s win prompted celebrations in several cities as supporters marked the result of the final.
