Qualcomm Technologies will showcase advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and wireless connectivity at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona. Further, the company says it will commence standardization of 6G cellular technology this year by increasing the spectral efficiency and improving coverage across all bands using new techniques. Qualcomm also announced that it will work on supporting the FR3 band in 2025.
Qualcomm’s 6G advancements at MWC 2025: Key details
To realize its 6G Vision, Qualcomm has announced collaboration between networks and devices using AI. The US-based chipmaker has already started designing a two-sided AI-enhanced channel state feedback (CSF) in 5G Advanced. The company is also upgrading its MIMO system designs to support this new spectrum in the upper FR3 midband, which is between 7-15 GHz.
Qualcomm also imagines AI being used as digital twins in 6G networks. These are virtual models of real-world networks and will do the same for wireless networks, preventing issues like slow speeds or dropped connections before you even notice them by predicting and anticipating them as they come to ensure fast wireless connectivity.
The company is collaborating with industry leaders such as Nokia Bell Labs and Rohde & Schwarz to demonstrate the benefits and scalability of new AI-enhanced air interface design. These advancements mark an important milestone in Qualcomm's journey toward realizing its ambitious goals for next-generation wireless communication by standardizing 6G connectivity in the coming years.
