It has become a common concept among affordable smartwatches that they don’t offer accurate health and fitness measurements – be it heart rate, SpO2 levels or step tracking. ProwatchX by Lava is here to change things a bit by offering accurate measurements. The watch, according to the company, has been tuned to compete with even premium-priced products when it comes to accuracy.

Having said that, the Prowatch X comes loaded with features. For instance, it has Vo2 Max measurements, Energy Score, Stress tracking and sleep tracking. Not only that, Prowatch has also included women's health features as well.

When it comes to features, Bluetooth Calling comes as a standard feature and it even has a ton of watch faces to choose from.

I have used the Prowatch X for several weeks and here’s what I think about this Rs 3,499 smartwatch.

Prowatch X review: Design, band and comfort

Prowatch X is a good-looking watch with flat housing. Also, the sensors at the back do not protrude much which makes it a comfortable watch to wear. Plus, Prowatch has launched it with three bands to choose from. The plastic one comes as standard and pre-installed on the watch. The good thing is that Prowatch X is kind enough to include the elastic fabric band in the box. The watch has a 22mm strap with a regular pin which makes it easier for users to find and choose different colours, designs and materials for the band.

The comfort level here is top-notch. The watch is lightweight and the overall design sits well on the wrist. I used the watch continuously for almost 5 days and not once I realise that it is there or became uncomfortable for me. The included fabric band is my personal favourite and it is even more comfortable than the rubber band included with the watch.

Coming to the display, it comes with a 1.43-inch AMOLED panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. A Rs 3,499 watch having an AMOLED with Gorilla Glass is something not often seen in this rage. But, when it was there, I had one less thing to be worried about – getting scratched and breaking the display glass altogether.

The display is clear, crisp and bright enough to remain visible in most conditions. However, if you are watching the watch under direct sunlight, you might face some issues viewing the content on the watch. It is a 60Hz display so, things overall are smooth here.

Prowatch X review: Performance, health tracking and features

Measurement accuracy has always been questionable in this price segment. Prowatch claims that the accuracy of the watch is pretty good and to test it, I used it regularly. The watch counts steps and monitors heart rate, SpO2, etc pretty accurately. I found no disparity between Prowatch X and some other premium watches which is a good thing.

Other than this, the watch also supports Stress tracking, Body energy, and Sleep tracking. Sleep tracking is also accurate and based on that analysis, the watch offers an Energy score. Based on the algorithm that Prowatch has used, it appears to be fine.

Sleep tracking is accurate. While it does not get triggered automatically when you sleep, it works if you can turn it on manually each day. Which is acceptable for the watch in this price range.

Fitness tracking is another aspect where the watch excels. The Prowatch X offers tons of fitness tracking modes and features. You can choose from a wide range of exercises and most importantly it has got almost all the exercises included that a normal person would do in his or her day-to-day life.

ProSpot is the companion app that helps the watch connect to the phone. The watch is simple to pair and connects easily via the app. The app itself is well-designed with the most important things are placed right at the front.  For instance, you see Steps, heart rate, Distance, Calories, SpO2, etc on the top.

If you don’t want all these things to show on the home screen, you have the option to customise it.

Overall, the Prowatch X is feature-packed with all the essential features that one would need. Moreover, the accuracy levels appear to be on point in its price segment.

Prowatch X review: Battery life

Battery life is really impressive here. Prowatch claims that the watch would offer up to 12 days of battery life in a single charge. In my testing, the watch managed to last around 8 days with full brightness all the time and 2 and a half hours of workout. This is a lot. If you are anywhere moderate user then the watch will easily last up to 11 days.

Prowatch X review: Verdict

Prowatch X by Lava is a budget watch that costs Rs 3,499. But the main differentiating factor here is the accuracy and features that it offers, Things like detailed sleep analysis, sleep tracking, and VO2 Max are something that even premium watches don’t offer. Moreover, the watch also comes with multiple watch faces and Bluetooth calling. Battery life is a big plus for it and if you are out there looking for an affordable smartwatch that looks good works well and is cost effective too, then Prowatch X can be a good option to go with.
