What is Comet Plus?

Comet Plus is a subscription plan that gives Perplexity users access to premium content from trusted publishers and journalists. The goal is simple: improve how we consume information online while making sure the creators behind that content are fairly compensated in the age of AI.

How does it work?

Traditionally, publishers make money through ads, clicks, and pageviews. But that model doesn’t reflect how people actually use the web today. Now, we often rely on AI to summarize articles, answer questions, or even scan our schedules and suggest reading material.

Comet Plus changes the economics by compensating publishers not just for human visits, but also for when their content is cited in AI answers or used by AI agents to help users complete tasks. In other words, it recognizes the different ways knowledge is consumed today.

Comet Plus will cost $5 per month as a standalone subscription. If you’re already a Perplexity Pro or Max subscriber, Comet Plus is included at no extra cost. The initial list of publisher partners will be announced when Comet is released publicly.
