OpenAI has been working on a shopping feature for ChatGPT. The AI company has finally dropped the feature and is now rolling out to all users across the globe. The new feature is designed to help users shop better, find the right products at best possible deals and offers. Moreover, ChatGPT Shopping will also let users compare multiple products and help choose the right one.

What is ChatGPT Shopping

ChatGPT Shopping is an interactive product-research feature powered by a specialised version of GPT-5 mini, trained specifically for shopping-related queries. It reads product pages, checks prices, reviews specifications, and cites credible sources. Unlike simple queries that just need quick answers, this tool focuses on deeper decision-making—comparing models, analysing trade-offs, and adapting to specific constraints like budget, size, or features.

The system performs best in categories with complex specifications such as electronics, kitchen appliances, beauty, home improvement, fitness gear, and outdoor equipment. It also helps find lookalikes for clothing or accessories by analysing images, and can suggest gifts tailored to personal interests.

Users can start shopping research in two ways:

ChatGPT will display a card prompting you to begin Shopping Research.

Use the tools menu On mobile and web, open the (+) menu and select Shopping research.

Once activated, ChatGPT opens a visual interface where you can answer questions, refine options, and receive your personalised guide.
