It’s AI season in the smartphone world. From Samsung to Google, every brand is adding a layer of artificial intelligence to make their devices smarter and more helpful. And now, OnePlus has joined the party. After weeks of speculation, the company has finally revealed its own suite of AI tools and they will make their debut with the upcoming OnePlus 13s.
OnePlus is calling this new direction simply “OnePlus AI,” and it’s all about making your phone work better for you. Whether it’s saving important information, translating conversations, or helping you take better photos, the aim is to blend AI into everyday tasks without making it feel overwhelming.
A new button for smart shortcuts
One of the standout features is a small but powerful hardware addition: the Plus Key. This is a customisable button that you can set up to do various tasks like switch your phone to silent mode, launch the camera, or start recording audio. But where it gets really interesting is how it connects with something called AI Plus Mind.
Let’s say you’re looking at a message with an appointment time or a screenshot of a restaurant reservation. Instead of trying to remember it or digging through screenshots later, you can just press the Plus Key or swipe up with three fingers. Your phone will save what’s on screen, figure out what kind of info it is, and store it neatly in a space called Mind Space. You can come back to it anytime, and even ask your phone to find it using simple questions like, “What time is my meeting tomorrow?” or “Where did I save that dinner reservation?”
Later updates will even let the phone automatically sort and categorize all this saved info for easier access.
AI that helps with calls, photos, and even translations
But that’s just the beginning. OnePlus is also adding tools that can summarize or translate your phone calls, directly within messaging or meeting apps. There’s also AI Translation, which combines all types of translation—text, voice, camera, and screen—into one easy-to-use app.
On the photo side, features like AI Reframe can help improve how your photos are composed, while AI Best Face 2.0 can fix group photos by opening closed eyes or adjusting facial expressions—even in pictures taken on other phones.
OnePlus says it’s taking privacy seriously too, with sensitive tasks processed on your device or in a secure private cloud. All this adds up to one thing: OnePlus is betting big on personalized, practical AI. And the 13s will be the first phone to bring that vision to life.
