OnePlus is reportedly shifting to a new rear camera design with its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 15. Moreover, the device is expected to feature a slightly lower-resolution display than its predecessor, with a big 7-inch screen size.
Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus is set to introduce its next-generation flagship, the OnePlus 15, in its homeland in the coming months. The company appears to be heading in a new direction with the smartphone, as a new leak suggests that the OnePlus 15 is set to introduce significant changes in both design and hardware, marking a shift from the company’s recent number series flagship smartphones.
OnePlus 15: Expected camera design, specifications
According to the reliable Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 15 is reportedly switching to a small square-shaped camera module, tucked into the top-left corner of the back panel, similar to its recently launched OnePlus 13s. Additionally, the Hasselblad camera collaboration, which has been present on recent OnePlus flagships, may not appear on the OnePlus 15.
Up front, the phone is expected to have a flat 7-inch 1.5K display with minimal bezels. The tipster adds that the phone could use LIPO (Low Injection Pressure Overmolding) display packaging, a technique that replaces traditional buffer materials with a polymer-based liquid. It will help in achieving narrower bezels and provide improved durability. However, the resolution is tipped to be slightly lower than the OnePlus 13, as the OnePlus 15 could offer 1.5K resolution, instead of the standard 2K support.
Performance-wise, the OnePlus 15 is expected to feature Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. Battery life might also see a major jump, as the tipster previously stated that the phone could offer a large battery with more than 7,000 mAh capacity. Charging speeds are expected to remain at 100W, in line with the past OnePlus flagships.
