Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has credited Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) as a key factor behind the company’s recent success, while confirming there are no active plans to sell its latest Blackwell AI chips to China. Speaking at a TSMC event in Hsinchu, Taiwan, Huang said, “TSMC is doing a very good job supporting us on wafers. Nvidia’s success would not be possible without TSMC.”
Huang, who is on his fourth visit to Taiwan this year, highlighted the strong demand for Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture, saying the company is scaling production across multiple chip components — from GPUs and CPUs to networking and switching systems. “We’re seeing very strong demand,” he said. “There are a lot of chips associated with Blackwell.”
Addressing concerns about potential memory shortages, Huang noted that the company continues to rely on its three key partners — SK Hynix, Samsung, and Micron — all of which, he said, “have scaled up tremendous capacity” to meet Nvidia’s needs. He confirmed that Nvidia has already received the most advanced memory samples from all three companies. When asked whether rising memory prices could pose a problem, Huang declined to speculate, stating, “It’s for them to decide how to run their business.”
On the subject of China, Huang clarified that Nvidia is not currently in talks to sell its Blackwell chips to the Chinese market. The Trump administration has barred exports of Nvidia’s top-tier AI processors to China, citing concerns that they could enhance military and AI capabilities.
Despite the restrictions, Huang reiterated his belief that continued collaboration between the US and China benefits both nations. “China is a singular, vital, important, dynamic market, and nobody can replace that,” he said. “It’s in the best interest of America to serve that market, and in the best interest of China to have American technology companies bring innovation there. I hope policymakers will ultimately come to that conclusion.”
Huang’s remarks underline Nvidia’s balancing act between maintaining key supplier relationships, navigating supply constraints, and addressing the geopolitical pressures surrounding advanced chip exports.
