Nothing has begun teasing its next flagship True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbuds, the Ear (3), which will succeed last year’s Nothing Ear model. The announcement marks the company’s return to the original numbering scheme after earlier iterations, the Ear (1) and Ear (2).
According to Andrew, Head of Global Smart Products Marketing at Nothing, the decision was based on clarity and customer feedback. “Skipping ahead to Ear (4) would only create confusion, especially for new customers, so we landed on the solution that brings the most clarity and consistency,” he said.
The Ear (3) is expected to feature meaningful hardware upgrades. Reports suggest the earbuds may adopt a dual-driver system, a setup commonly seen in higher-end TWS products, aimed at delivering richer sound quality across frequencies. Enhanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and a more natural transparency mode are also anticipated, along with improvements in battery efficiency.
Nothing is likely to continue with its signature transparent design for both the earbuds and the charging case, a hallmark of its product identity since the first-generation model. A long-requested feature, swipe-based volume controls directly on the earbuds, could also make its debut with this generation.
The company has not yet confirmed the exact launch date, but the Ear (3) is expected to be officially unveiled in late September or early October 2025. With the teasers now live, more details on specifications and pricing are expected to surface in the coming weeks.
Nothing has steadily built a following with its minimalist design approach and competitive audio features, and the Ear (3) is positioned as its next step in the flagship TWS category.
