Carl Pei, CEO of London-based consumer tech brand Nothing, is in India. Pei took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and said that India can become a global smartphone powerhouse. “India today stands where China was a decade ago in the smartphone industry - on the verge of a major revolution. With the government's push for local manufacturing, a thriving tech ecosystem, and a rapidly expanding consumer base, India has all the ingredients to become a global smartphone powerhouse,” he said in his post.
He further said that this is further reinforced by the government's plans to develop Indian mobile phone brands.
Pei also said that he is looking forward to his visit. He will be a key speaker at The Raisina Dialogue, a conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics. Pei will be a part of a panel discussion on March 19 to discuss "Virtual Rubicon: Governing Digital Frontiers" alongside other speakers like Rajeev Chandrashekar, former Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology.
"Excited to be part of the 2025 @raisinadialogue in Delhi, where I’ll join global and local leaders to discuss India’s growing influence in tech and smartphones. Bullish on India’s potential to be at the forefront of the global smartphone industry. Looking forward to exploring how we can shape this transformative journey together," said Pei in another post on X.
Pei’s visit comes on the heels of Nothing launching two new phones — Phone 3(a) Pro and Phone 3(a) -- in India.
