Nothing announces Nothing OS 3.1 update for Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro: New features and complete changelog

Nothing has just launched its latest smartphone – Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro – in India and other regions. Soon after the launch, Nothing started rolling out the first update – Nothing OS 3.1 for both the smartphones. The update brings new features, improvements to Essentials Space, camera enhancements and system optimisations.

Nothing OS 3.1 for Nothing Phone (3a) series is now rolling to all users. The firmware rollout is staggered, meaning not all users will receive it simultaneously.

The update refines the Essential Key interaction, allowing a quick press to save content or take notes and a long press to record voice notes. New widgets now let users view Essential Space content directly on the home screen or lock screen. The homepage and detail page have been redesigned for a better user experience, and an ‘Upcoming’ section has been added for task management. Smart Insight now supports the system’s language.

Nothing OS 3.1 introduces Camera Presets, enabling quick access to optimized settings for different scenes. Users can now share and import Presets, along with cube files, to apply custom filters. The update enhances photo quality, improves macro mode clarity, and refines portrait mode for better background blur. The camera app has also been optimized for stability and performance.

The Nothing Gallery now features AI-powered face and scene classification, improving content organization. The update also refines user interaction in the gallery for a smoother experience. A new power-off password verification feature has been introduced, adding an extra layer of security. Additionally, various bug fixes have been implemented to enhance system stability.

To update, users can go to Settings > System > Software Update.
