From challenging each other to wrestling matches to praising each other’s work, Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk’s relationship over the years has been a roller coaster ride. Recently, during an earnings call, Zuckerberg praised one of X’s features. He further said there is no harm in admitting when someone does something better.
During the earnings call, when Meta’s chief was asked if the company’s decision to end traditional fact-checking would affect content quality, user growth, and ads, Zuckerberg said that X’s model, which allows users to add context to posts (referring to the Community Notes feature), is "more effective" than Meta’s previous system, according to a report by Business Insider.
"I'm not afraid to admit when someone does something that's better than us. It's our job to implement the best system," he said. Zuckerberg also added that because of X’s Community Notes feature, Meta’s platforms will improve.
This is one of those rare occasions when the tech giants agree on something. Zuckerberg and Musk have largely been at odds regarding the future of technology, with very different approaches to shaping their products and the philosophies behind them.
When Zuckerberg announced that Meta would remove third-party fact-checkers, he also mentioned that they would be replaced by Community Notes, similar to X’s system. To this, Musk had responded, saying, “This is cool.”
