After years of rumours and speculations, Nintendo is gearing up to reveal its highly anticipated Switch 2 gaming console with a dedicated Nintendo Direct presentation on April 2. The event is set to take place on April 2 at 9 AM EDT (6:30 PM IST) and will be live-streamed on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel, allowing gamers worldwide to get first-hand details on what the next-generation console has to offer.
Nintendo Switch 2: What to expectNintendo has confirmed that the upcoming Switch 2 will sport a larger display and improved battery life. Further, the handheld is expected to retain the familiar Joy-Con controllers while introducing a new mysterious ‘C’ button. Moreover, a leaked patent suggests the new console may support AI-based upscaling technology similar to NVIDIA’s DLSS, which is widely used for increasing a game’s performance.
Further, the teaser shared by the company a few months ago also suggested the presence of dual USB-C ports. A revamped docking system and an integrated kickstand were also highlighted, indicating improved usability. Additionally, the Switch 2 is expected to deliver a more powerful gaming experience and also maintain backward compatibility with existing Switch games.
Although Nintendo has not officially disclosed the price of the Switch 2 and its release date, industry experts expect it to be priced in the $399–$499 range, given the advancements in hardware and current inflation. Besides, the new Mario Kart title that was shown briefly during the Switch 2 reveal video in January and a live-action adaptation of ‘The Legend of Zelda’ are also expected to be unveiled at today’s event.
