Netflix has refreshed its Moments feature with a significant update on iOS, making it easier for subscribers to save and share their favourite scenes. The company has rolled out the new version alongside the release of Wednesday season 2, part 2, giving fans a timely way to capture moments from the latest episodes of one of its most-watched shows.
The feature, first introduced last year, originally worked more like a bookmark tool. Users could only tag the starting point of a scene, which acted more as a reminder to return to a specific timestamp. The new update completely reworks this system. Viewers can now select both the start and end points of a clip, turning Moments into a proper scene-sharing tool.
While watching on iOS, a “Clip” button is now available, bringing up a filmstrip interface with drag handles. This design allows users to customise the exact length of a clip rather than being locked to a single marker. Once trimmed to preference, the clip can be saved and shared directly through Netflix’s standard sharing menu.
The streaming giant says the update will be rolled out gradually across devices, but iOS users get first access. It is a strategic move, considering Apple’s iPhone audience remains one of Netflix’s most engaged mobile user bases. By tying the launch to Wednesday season 2, part 2, Netflix is banking on the buzz around Jenna Ortega’s return to the Addams Family-inspired series to drive interest in Moments.
Netflix has also shared some insight into how viewers have been using the feature since its introduction. According to the company, the most-saved scene globally so far has been the Saja Boys’ performance of “Soda Pop” in KPop Demon Hunters. Two other songs from the same film, “Your Idol” and “How It’s Done”, were the second and third most captured moments. These stats highlight how music-driven scenes have become particularly popular for sharing.
By evolving Moments into a full clip-creation tool, Netflix is moving closer to the short-form video sharing that has exploded across platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. For fans of Wednesday, this means they can now capture Ortega’s sharp one-liners, gothic humour and iconic dance sequences with much more flexibility.
