Netflix users who prefer viewing content on their smartphones or tablets, prefer downloading them to watch on the go or when there’s no internet connectivity available. Netflix added a download feature in 2016 and a one-tap season download feature in 2021 on Android. It only took four years for the streaming platform to extend the feature to iPhone and iPad versions of the app.
Netflix app on iPhone and iPad gets one-click season downloads
Netflix, in an official announcement post, has mentioned that they are adding a “Season Download Button” on the iOS and iPadOS versions of the app. The feature, if you are unaware, allows users to download the entire season (all episodes) of a particular TV Show at once by the press of a single button.
Do note that the feature has been there on the Android version since 2021 and it has finally arrived to the iPhone and iPad.
How to use the One-tap season download feature on Netflix
The implementation on both Android and iOS for the Season download is the same. All you need to do is update the Netflix app and find the show you want to download.
Look for the “Download Season (number) button below the preview screen.
That’s it. The app will now download the entire season at once without going through the cumbersome processes of tapping on the download button next to each episode in that season.
Smart downloads
Apart from the one-step season download, Netflix also has something called “Smart Downloads” feature within the app. The feature, according to the settings page “downloads a selection of movies and shows so you always have something to watch. Downloading only happens on Wi-Fi.”
Apart from this, it also downloads the next episode as you watch a TV show after downloading it. The good thing is that it also deletes after you have finished watching that episode.
