Infinix has introduced two smartphone technologies at MWC 2025 called SolarEnergy-Reserving Technology for smartphone charging and E-Color Shift 2.0 for customisable back covers, which bring a changing feature to the phones. The technologies have been showcased, and the company plans to integrate these technologies into future smartphones.
Solar Energy-Reserving Technology: DetailsInfinix’s SolarEnergy-Reserving Technology combines perovskite photovoltaic technology with AI-powered algorithms to capture and store solar energy. It functions through a prototype smartphone and phone case, providing power in low-light and varied lighting conditions.
The AI-driven system adjusts power collection in real time, optimising energy transfer through discreet contact points. The case facilitates up to 2W of energy storage, ensuring continuous power flow. The company also introduced “Sunflower” Wireless Charging Technology, which dynamically adapts the charging path based on lighting and device positioning, allowing efficient charging within a 3-meter range.
Key features:• Provides backup power during outages and emergencies.
• Stores up to 2W of energy.
• Uses high-temperature-resistant SolidCore battery technology.
• Can be applied to devices beyond smartphones.
E-Color Shift 2.0 Technology: DetailsE-Color Shift 2.0 utilises e-ink technology to enable color-changing back covers. The second-generation system improves color depth and segmentation, supporting wider adoption of customisable phone aesthetics.
Users can select from six patterns and six color templates, offering up to 30 combinations. AI modules adjust the back cover based on external factors such as weather, wallpapers, and surroundings. The system also supports animated color shifts for charging, calls, and notifications.
Key features:• Offers up to 30 color and pattern combinations.
• Uses AI for automatic adjustments.
• Displays animated effects for notifications.
Future adoptionInfinix stated that these innovations will be incorporated into upcoming smartphones. The NOTE 50 series, launching in late March 2025, is expected to feature enhanced charging and AI capabilities, along with a metal design.
