In conversations about value, well-known comedian Jerry Seinfeld once joked that you get what you pay for, but sometimes you end up getting a little more. That idea quietly sums up the philosophy behind Motorola's latest smartphone – the edge 70 Fusion.
Now, the phone is priced starting at Rs 24,999 with offers and this is not an easy segment to crack considering the sheer number of alternatives available in this price bracket.
The Fusion lineup from Motorola has always been about delivering more on the value front and then some more to make it a sweeter deal altogether.
And if you are wondering whether you should be choosing the edge 70 Fusion or look at other offerings in this price segment, the answer depends on what you expect from a smartphone in this range and here are my final thoughts about the edge 70 Fusion.
Motorola edge 70 Fusion: Design and build
Motorola has clearly invested effort in the physical design of the edge 70 Fusion. The phone features a quad-curved body where the display and rear panel gently curve toward the frame. This approach removes sharp edges and helps the device sit comfortably in the hand.

The rear panel uses a fabric-inspired finish resembling nylon or linen textures. Compared with glossy glass backs, the textured surface improves grip and helps reduce fingerprint marks. It also gives the phone a distinct look that separates it from the typical glass-sandwich designs seen across many smartphones. Most importantly, it brings that premium feel to it and the added comfort as well when holding it. And, it also positions it differently from other options in the market.
Durability is another area Motorola appears to have addressed. The phone carries MIL-STD-810H certification and includes IP68 and IP69 ratings for protection against dust and water. In everyday situations such as rain or accidental spills, this level of protection can add reassurance.
Despite carrying a large battery, the device measures around 7.99mm in thickness and weighs approximately 193 grams. This balance between size and battery capacity makes the phone comfortable for daily use.

The charging port, speaker and primary mic are placed at the bottom and the power and volume buttons are at the right side and they offer a good and clicky feel. At the top, there’s the secondary microphone.
Display
The Motorola edge 70 Fusion features a 6.78-inch Extreme AMOLED display with a resolution of 2772 × 1272 pixels. The panel supports HDR10+, 10-bit colour depth and full DCI-P3 colour coverage.
In daily usage, the screen produces sharp visuals and rich colours. Watching videos, scrolling through apps or browsing websites feels immersive because of the large display.
The panel also supports a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, which makes animations and scrolling appear smoother than standard 60Hz displays.
Motorola claims peak brightness of up to 5200 nits. In outdoor conditions the display remains readable, even under strong sunlight. And, it is also among the brightest displays in this price segment. In terms of colour reproduction, clarity and details, the edge 70 Fusion offers overall good results.
Motorola has also backed another practical feature called Water Touch, which allows the display to remain responsive even when slightly wet. This can be useful during rain or when using the phone near water.
Performance
Performance is one of the key highlights here. The 7s Gen 4 is a good chipset for the price and a capable one too. This chipset targets the upper mid-range category and is designed for everyday tasks such as messaging, browsing, video streaming and multitasking.
In daily use, the phone handles common applications smoothly. Switching between apps feels quick, particularly when using Motorola’s RAM Boost feature.

The device is available with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage, which should be sufficient for most users storing photos, videos and applications.
Gaming performance is stable for titles such as BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile when played at moderate graphics settings. While the phone is not primarily designed as a gaming device, it manages casual gaming sessions without noticeable issues.
The edge 70 Fusion runs Android 16 with Motorola’s near-stock interface. The software experience remains clean with limited pre-installed applications.
Motorola promises three Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates, which adds some long-term support for buyers.
Camera
The phone features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 primary camera – a first in any smartphone – with optical image stabilisation.
In daylight conditions, the camera captures photos with good detail and balanced colour reproduction. Motorola highlights Pantone-validated colours and skin tones to improve colour accuracy.
Low-light photography benefits from Night Vision mode and OIS, which help reduce blur and improve clarity. However, I feel that the colour saturation could have been a little better. However, the grains are well controlled and the overall sharpness is fine too.
The secondary camera is a 13MP ultrawide sensor that also supports macro photography. This allows users to capture wide scenes or close-up shots without switching cameras.
On the front, the device includes a 32MP selfie camera capable of recording 4K video.
While the camera system does not aim to compete with flagship camera setups, it produces consistent results suitable for everyday photography.

Battery life
Battery life is one of the most noticeable aspects of the edge 70 Fusion.
The phone includes a 7000mAh battery, which is larger than what most smartphones in this price range offer.
In real-world usage involving calls, messaging, social media and video streaming, the device comfortably lasts more than a full day on a single charge.
Motorola claims the battery can deliver up to 52 hours of usage under certain conditions.
Charging is supported through a 68W TurboPower charger included in the box. Motorola states that a short charging session can provide several hours of use.
Software and AI features
Motorola continues its approach of offering a near-stock Android experience with minimal interface modifications.
Other connectivity features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and support for multiple 5G bands.

The device includes Moto AI features designed to help record, transcribe and summarise notes. It can also organise screenshots and saved content for easier searching.
Google’s Circle to Search feature is also supported, allowing users to highlight objects or text on the screen and instantly search for related information.
Verdict
Coming back to the idea mentioned at the beginning — sometimes you get what you pay for, and occasionally you get a little more — the Motorola edge 70 Fusion fits that thought quite well.
In a highly competitive price segment starting around Rs 24,999, Motorola has focused on building a phone that balances multiple aspects rather than relying on one standout feature.
Edge 70 Fusion
The device offers a comfortable design, a bright and smooth display, reliable everyday performance from the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset and one of the larger batteries in this category.
The camera setup delivers consistent results for regular photography, though it is not meant to rival flagship phones. Overall, the edge 70 Fusion stands out because of its balanced package and value-driven approach and that’s what makes it a solid contender in this segment.
