Motorola recently introduced the Edge 60 Pro, the company’s latest phone in its Edge 60 series. Like last year’s Motorola Edge 50 Pro, the smartphone offers flagship-grade hardware at a midrange price with a clean software experience. Nothing’s Phone 3a Pro also shares a lot of similarities, yet it packs different performance traits.
However, it’s a close contest between these two smartphones, especially if you are looking to buy a new smartphone under Rs 30,000. We now compare these two devices in different departments and see how the Motorola Edge 60 Pro and Nothing Phone 3a Pro stack up against each other.
Display and design
Both phones come with a 6.7-inch OLED display with punch hole cutouts. However, the Edge 60 Pro offers more durable Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection and a higher peak brightness of 4500 nits, making it better suited for outdoor viewing. It also offers a higher 1.5K resolution compared to Nothing Phone 3a Pro’s Full HD resolution.
In the design department, the Nothing Phone 3a Pro offers the company’s signature transparent back design with Glyph lights. Meanwhile, the Edge 60 Pro comes with a leather-inspired or nylon-inspired texture. It also offers better protection against dust and water splashes with its IP69 rating compared to Nothing’s IP64 rating.
Performance and software
As for performance, the Nothing Phone 3a Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The Motorola Edge 60 Pro houses the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Extreme chipset with 12 GB RAM and up to 256 GB storage. However, the Edge 60 Pro uses a faster UFS 4.0 storage type compared to the Phone 3a Pro’s UFS 2.2 storage.
As for software, the Nothing Phone 3a Pro comes with Android 15 with Nothing OS skin on top. It will receive three years of software updates. Similarly, the Motorola Edge 60 Pro is also running Android 15 out of the box and will receive three years of software updates.
Camera
Both smartphones sport triple-camera setups with a 50MP primary sensor. However, the Edge 60 Pro offers a 50MP ultrawide sensor compared to the Phone 3a Pro’s 8MP ultrawide sensor. In contrast, the Edge 60 Pro comes with a lower resolution 10MP telephoto sensor with 3x zoom support, compared to 50MP resolution on the Phone 3a Pro with 3x optical zoom.
Selfie lovers will find a lot to like, as both phones use a 50MP front camera with 4K video recording support. Both devices also come with OIS support on the main and telephoto cameras, offering improved night photography and shake-free videos.
Battery and charging
The Motorola Edge 60 Pro packs a big 6000mAh battery compared to the Nothing Phone 3a Pro’s 5,000mAh battery pack. The Motorola smartphone also offers wired charging speeds at 90W compared to Nothing’s 50W charging. The Edge 60 Pro supports 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wired charging, which the Phone 3a Pro skimps out on. Motorola has also bundled the 90W charger in the box of the smartphone.
Verdict
At a starting price of less than Rs 30,000, the Motorola Edge 60 Pro offers a lot more specifications for most users, especially in the battery and performance department. It also comes with a similar software update policy and improved durability with a better IP rating. The inclusion of a charger in the box means that you won’t have to spend extra for the Edge 60 Pro, unlike the Phone 3a Pro.
However, for users who like a feature-rich software experience with zero bloatware, the Nothing Phone 3a Pro is still the better buy. It also comes with an improved telephoto camera for shooting highly detailed zoomed images.
