Microsoft has launched its new Copilot+ PCs, the company’s first artificial intelligence (AI)-powered devices. The tech giant describes these Copilot+ PCs as a new category of Windows PCs designed for AI. The company also claims that they are the fastest, most intelligent Windows PCs ever built.
Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO via X stated, “Today marks the beginning of a new era for Windows, with the launch of Copilot+PCs. We can’t wait to see how these new AI-powered devices empower people to be more productive and creative."
Microsoft Copilot+ PCs: Price, features
The Surface Laptop (7th Edition) with 64GB RAM has a starting price of $2,399.99 and is available in black colour with a 13.8-inch display. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite 12-core processor and 1TB SSD Storage.
The 15-inch Surface Laptop has a starting price of $2,499.99 and is available in a black colour option with the Snapdragon X Elite processor and 1TB of internal storage. All the Copilot+ PCs have a minimum specification of more than 40 TOPS (trillion operations per second) and have 16 GB RAM.
Microsoft also promises all–day battery life with these laptops and access to the most advanced AI models on the NPU (neural processing unit). Further, these PCs are enhanced by the large language models (LLMs) running in Microsoft Azure Cloud for better experiences with Microsoft’s native services and apps.
All these laptops will run the Copilot+ assistant chatbot. However, Microsoft has withdrawn the ‘Recall’ feature, which would continuously take and store screenshots of user activity, amidst privacy concerns.
