Microsoft has rolled out a major update to its AI assistant, Copilot, called the Copilot Fall Release, introducing 12 new features designed to make AI more personal, helpful, and human-centered. The update focuses on giving users more time for meaningful work and life instead of demanding attention.
Mustafa Suleyman, CEO of Microsoft AI, said the goal is to build “AI that serves people, not replaces them.” The new Copilot is designed to enhance creativity, productivity, and human connections, helping users think, plan, and collaborate more effectively.
One of the highlights is Mico, a visual AI companion that reacts with color and animation, listens, and adapts to interactions, making conversations feel more natural. Groups allows up to 32 people to collaborate in real time, summarizing discussions, assigning tasks, and keeping teams aligned. Imagine lets users explore and remix AI-generated ideas in a shared creative space.
Personalization gets a boost with Memory & Personalization, which remembers birthdays, goals, work details, and more. Users remain in control, able to edit or delete memories anytime. Connectors integrate Copilot with apps like Outlook, Gmail, OneDrive, Google Drive, and Google Calendar, making it easier to search and organize content.
Proactive Actions help Copilot suggest next steps, surface insights, and assist with tasks without starting from scratch. Health features include Copilot for Health, offering credible medical information from sources like Harvard Health and helping users find suitable doctors. For students, Learn Live acts as an interactive tutor using voice, visuals, and whiteboards to make learning engaging.
On Windows and Edge, Copilot becomes a full AI companion. Copilot Mode in Edge summarizes tabs, performs actions like booking hotels, and supports voice-only browsing. Journeys organizes browsing history into storylines to resume tasks easily. Copilot on Windows integrates AI across PCs, helping with file management, troubleshooting, and voice-activated interactions through “Hey Copilot.” Finally, Pages & Copilot Search allow multi-file collaboration and AI-powered search combining traditional results with clear, cited answers.
Microsoft says these updates are live in the US and will roll out globally in the coming weeks. The company calls this release “a big step toward AI that feels more human, helpful, and built around real needs.”
