Meta has begun rolling out its new ‘Imagine Me’ artificial intelligence (AI) feature in India, after its introduction in the US and a select few countries so far. It will be available within Meta’s popular social media platforms such as Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp. The tool allows individuals to generate creative, personalised images of themselves using simple text prompts and is powered by the Emu image synthesis model.
How to use Meta AI’s ‘Imagine Me’ featureIn a press release, Meta announced that the ‘Imagine Me’ feature in Meta AI is now being expanded to India. The feature was initially introduced in July 2024, and essentially captures the user's facial data and then, using its personalisation models, adds the same face in different scenarios and styles.
Meta AI users can use the ‘Imagine Me’ tool within their WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram chat windows by initiating a conversation tagging @Meta AI on all these platforms, both in individual and group chats. For instance, a user can ask Meta AI to “Imagine me as a 90s rockstar,” and the AI will ask users to provide three selfies showing the front, left, and right angles of their faces. The ‘Imagine Me’ tool will then generate an image where the user's face can be seen on a person playing a guitar on a stage.
As per Meta’s policy, AI-generated images created with Meta's AI tools will have an ‘Imagined with watermark. Other AI-generated images will be tagged with ‘AI info.’ Moreover, if users are not happy with the AI-generated image of themselves, they also have the option to edit, regenerate, or remove these images from the chat pages.
