Meta’s Chief Technology Officer, Andrew Bosworth, has told some employees to leave the company if they don’t agree with the company’s policies. His comments came after a discussion on Meta’s internal Workplace forum, according to a report by Business Insider.
On January 30, Bosworth shared an article from The Verge about CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s comments in an all-hands meeting. He mentioned that the entire meeting had been leaked and suggested this was why Meta had changed its format.
One employee responded by listing concerns, including claims that Meta had changed policies targeting LGBTQ staff and had cut diversity programs. The employee also criticized the company for limiting internal discussions.
Bosworth replied, saying that if employees believe everyone must agree with all policies or leak information if they don’t, they should “consider working elsewhere.”
Another employee agreed that leaks were not helpful but argued that employees were scared and felt mistreated. Bosworth dismissed this claim, saying, “You should quit if you feel that way. I mean it.” He added that disagreement with policies was acceptable, but employees should either commit to the company or leave.
Meta recently announced changes to its Q&A sessions. The company said in its updated policy that it will skip questions that might be unproductive if leaked. Some employees have expressed concern over leadership’s silence on issues like content moderation and workplace policies. Meta spokesperson declined to comment on the situation.
