Meta has started testing another new feature on WhatsApp related to Meta AI. As per the latest Android beta version of the messaging app, the company is reportedly working on a memory feature for Meta AI that will let the AI tool remember a thing or two from your chats.
According to WABetaInfo’s report, the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.22.9 comes with a feature where Meta AI can remember things from your chats to deliver a tailored experience in the most natural way possible. The feature seems to be an extension of the voice chat for Meta AI that was rolled out to beta testers with the 2.24.18.18 version of the app.
Meta AI memory feature: How it works
With this new feature, Meta AI will start remembering things from your previous interactions including some of the details that you’ve shared with it in the past. The feature will then be used to offer more customised answers and responses.
As per the report, Meta AI can remember several things like personal details like food preferences, birthdays, and even things like the music you like, your favourite actor and more.
Useful but scary
When it comes to the usefulness of the feature, the ability to be more accurate and precise with the responses is going to help while interacting with Meta AI. Certainly, this will enable it to deliver much-tailored responses and results.
But, this will let Meta collect more user data and train its AI. However, the report does mention that the users will have the option to control what Meta AI remembers. Also, users will have the option to update and delete the data Meta AI has stored. Although, an option to completely turn it off will be more welcomed here.
Rollout details
The feature is currently in “under development” stage and is expected to arrive with the future versions of the app.
