Imagine spending Rs 2.6 lakh on a brand-new MacBook Pro and receiving an old, used laptop instead — not once, but twice. That’s exactly what happened to Devanshu Dhandhal, a customer who’s now calling out Flipkart publicly for the ordeal.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Devanshu shared his frustrating experience. He ordered the MacBook Pro from Flipkart, and to be safe, he even recorded an “open-box” video during the delivery. What he found inside shocked him — the box looked sealed from the outside, but the device inside was used and showed clear signs of wear.
I just got scammed on @Flipkart not once, but TWICE.So I ordered a 2.6 lakh MacBook Pro and got a used, old model inside a sealed Apple box. We filmed the entire open box delivery, you can see that in first attached video.I immediately requested a replacement, and this pic.twitter.com/e4Vfr5wqv9Devanshu Dhandhal (@mrtechpedia) June 8, 2025
Hoping it was just a one-off mistake, he requested a replacement. This time, he didn’t take any chances and unboxed the new delivery at the Ekart logistics office, right under CCTV surveillance. But unbelievably, the second MacBook was also used, with visible smudges and marks.
When he reached out to Flipkart’s customer service, they first initiated a return. But then things took a strange turn. Devanshu says the support team tried offering him compensation — Rs 13,000, then Rs 18,000, and finally 10% of the product cost — all of which he refused. Eventually, they rejected the return altogether.
“I was able to clean the smudges, but that’s not the point. The laptop wasn’t new to begin with,” Devanshu explained. Feeling cornered, he asked for 10% compensation just for the hassle — but Flipkart didn’t agree.
What makes the issue even more serious is that Devanshu isn’t alone. He claims the same seller — “Treasure Haul Online” — has been accused of doing this repeatedly since 2023. Social media posts across platforms like LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube, and X all mention similar scams linked to the same seller.
Devanshu has posted a detailed video about his experience, hoping to warn others. While Flipkart hasn’t made a public statement yet, the situation raises concerns about how well marketplaces are monitoring third-party sellers especially when high-value products are involved.
For now, Devanshu’s story stands as a cautionary tale: if you’re buying expensive tech online, record everything, and double-check the seller.
