LEGO’s Nintendo Game Boy set fully revealed: Launch date, price
The official product page for the Nintendo Game Boy’s LEGO set is now live, which shares a lot of similarities with the original 421-piece replica released in 1989. The company has also opened pre-orders of the handset ahead of release this fall.
LEGO Game Boy The LEGO Game Boy is a near 1:1 scale replica of Nintendo’s iconic handheld, which was released more than 35 years ago, in 1989. Once assembled, the model closely resembles the original console, as it comes with a similar-looking D-pad stick, buttons, and a Game Pak slot. It comes with a printed screen panel, featuring Tetris, adding a visual nod to the game that defined the Game Boy experience since its inception.

Design The handheld retro set comes with lenticular screens, D-Pad, select, start, and A, B face buttons. LEGO has also included brick-built Game Paks that can be inserted into the back of the machine. Moreover, it measures about 5.5 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide, matching the original retro device’s original shape and features.

Built for fans The LEGO Game Boy set is aimed at adult collectors and fans of retro gaming. It includes a display stand and needs to be assembled through 421 different pieces, the instructions for which are available through both a printed booklet and the LEGO Builder app. Fans can also swap in lenticular screen inserts to display scenes from Super Mario Land and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, which are also bundled with this device.

Pre-order details and price The pre-orders for the LEGO Game Boy are now live on LEGO’s official website ahead of an October 1 release. It is priced at $59.99 (around Rs 5,200). It’s part of LEGO’s growing effort to celebrate gaming culture through premium model kits. However, according to LEGO, the build is suitable for users who are 18+.
