L’Oréal, the popular cosmetics and beauty brand, has joined hands with IBM to use their AI technology to create eco-friendly cosmetics. Through their partnership, the company will focus on developing an AI system to improve the way the L’Oréal beauty products are designed. The company says that it would help them in designing better products for the planet as well as the consumers.
L’Oréal said in a statement that the partnership will help the beauty company in replacing traditional ingredients with renewable, bio-based ones and cut down on material and energy waste during production. Using IBM’s AI tech, L’Oréal scientists will analyze data from thousands of cosmetic formulas. This will help them in speeding up the creation of new products, reformulating the existing products, and scaling up production.
L’Oréal has also shared plans to use IBM’s AI system to ensure that its products are inclusive, personalized, and meet sustainability standards. The company has roped in 4,000 researchers across the globe to help them meet the target of using sustainable materials in their products by 2030.
“This partnership with IBM is a game-changer,” said Stéphane Ortiz from L’Oréal Research & Innovation. “It will help us innovate at scale while staying focused on sustainability.”
IBM’s Alessandro Curioni added, “This is a great example of how AI can make a real impact by helping companies innovate responsibly and sustainably.”
