Kim Kardashian has admitted that her use of artificial intelligence didn’t always go well. In a new video from Vanity Fair, the reality TV star said that she used ChatGPT to help her study for her law exams, but the chatbot often gave her the wrong answers.
Kardashian has been studying law since 2019 through a non-traditional program. She cleared the “baby bar” exam in 2021 and finished her law degree in May this year. She took the final bar exam in July and is waiting for her results, according to Entertainment Weekly.
In the Vanity Fair video, which is part of a series where celebrities answer questions while hooked up to a lie detector, singer and actor Teyana Taylor asked Kardashian if she thought of AI as a friend. Kardashian laughed and said, “No, I use it for legal advice.”
She explained that while studying, she would often take pictures of her notes and send them to ChatGPT to get answers. But the chatbot often gave her incorrect information. “They’re always wrong,” Kardashian said with a straight face. “It has made me fail tests all the time. Then I’ll get mad and yell at it like, ‘You made me fail, why did you do this?’”
Kardashian said that ChatGPT even talks back to her sometimes, trying to sound supportive. “It says things like, ‘This is just teaching you to trust your own instincts. You knew the answer all along,’” she added, smiling at the absurdity of it.
Many students and professionals around the world use AI tools like ChatGPT for learning and research, but experts warn that these systems can sometimes make mistakes. They generate responses based on patterns rather than actual understanding, which means the information is not always reliable.
Kardashian and Taylor are currently promoting their new Hulu series All’s Fair, which premiered this week. However, the show has received poor reviews, with a very low score of 18 out of 100 on Metacritic.
Despite that, Kardashian’s funny confession about arguing with ChatGPT has gone viral. It’s a reminder that while AI can be a great study companion, it still has a long way to go before it can replace real learning or human judgment.
