Reliance Jio has merged with Hotstar and announced the JioHotstar OTT platform. The new OTT platform brings together the content from both JioCinema as well as Disney+ Hotstar. JioHotstar brings Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema together JioHotstar is a result of a merger between the two platforms and it brings together the content from both platforms under one single roof.

One subscription to watch it all While JioHotstar offers content from both platforms, a single subscription is required to watch them all. No separate subscriptions are required as was the case before the merger.

JioHotstar has three subscription plans Jio has introduced three subscription plans for users. There’s the Mobile plan, Super and Premium plans. Each plan comes with different benefits and is suitable for different types of users.

JioHotstar Mobile plan is ad-supported The name itself gives it away that the Mobile plan is only for users who want to watch content on the go using their smartphone or tablet. It costs Rs 149 for 3 months and 499 for a year. Note that the plan does not work on PC or smart TVs. It offers 1 device access and comes with ads between the content.
JioHotstar Super plan is also ad-supported The Super plan is also ad-supported and it costs Rs 299 for 3 months and Rs 899 for a year. It offers access to 2 devices and works with Mobile, Web, and supported Living Room devices.

JioHotstar Premium plan is ad-free JioHotstar Premium is the only plan that offers an ad-free viewing experience. However, Live sports will be ad-supported. The plan costs Rs 299 per month or Rs 1,499 for a year.

Audio quality with subscription plans JioHotstar supports Dolby Atmos audio. However, it is only available with Super and Premium plans. The mobile plan does not offer Atmost support.

Video resolution support In terms of video quality, the JioHotstar Super subscription offers FHD resolution and the Premium plan supports 4K resolution. Apart from this, the Premium plan also supports Dolby Vision support.
Wide content selection JioHotstar includes everything from both platforms. This includes Hotstar Specials, Disney, HBO, Peacock, Paramount+, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars and National Geographic.
