Back in June 2024, when Apple showcased its AI features for the first time, there was a lot of spotlight on Siri. Apple had promised that a smarter Siri is in the works and would be available soon. Now, the Cupertino-based tech company has confirmed that the smarter version of Siri has been delayed.
“We’ve also been working on a more personalized Siri, giving it more awareness of your personal context, as well as the ability to take action for you within and across your apps. It’s going to take us longer than we thought to deliver on these features and we anticipate rolling them out in the coming year,” said Apple in an official statement.
Apple did highlight that “in just the past six months, we’ve made Siri more conversational, introduced new features like type to Siri and product knowledge, and added an integration with ChatGPT.” However, a more personalized and AI-powered version of Siri will not be coming any time soon.
Almost all other Apple Intelligence features which Apple had showcased have arrived or will be here by April.
Expected AI-powered features for Siri
Apple had said that Siri would become smarter with personal context awareness, helping users find information across notes, texts, and emails while keeping privacy intact. Apple is also working on-screen awareness, allowing Siri to interact with content directly. For example, if a friend texts you their new address, just say, “Add this to their contact card,” and Siri will handle it.
Additionally, Siri will support in-app actions, making multitasking effortless. From sending drafted emails to enhancing photos and saving them in Notes, Siri will streamline tasks without you lifting a finger, Apple had said.
