Leaks and reports about the iPhone 17 Air have begun surfacing, revealing key details about its design, display, and pricing. A recent leak provides a first look at dummy models of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series, including the ultra-thin Air variant. This leak seemingly confirms earlier speculation about Apple’s thinnest iPhone yet.
iPhone 17 Air expected to eature a 5.5mm thickness
Leaked images from Sonny Dickson, a well-known source for Apple-related leaks, showcase the iPhone 17 Air’s ultra-thin design. Comparisons with other models in the iPhone 17 lineup suggest that this variant will be significantly slimmer. Reports indicate that the device will measure just 5.5mm in thickness which will be the slimmest iPhone in recent years.
Will the iPhone 17 Air be the slimmest iPhone?
When compared to all the previously launched iPhone models, the iPhone 17 Air – as per leaks and rumours – will have a 5.5mm thickness. In comparison to the previous record holder, the iPhone 6 with 6.9mm thickness is around 1.4mm slimmer.
If the rumours stand true, then yes, the iPhone 17 Air will be the slimmest iPhone ever.
iPhone 17 Air: What else we know so far
The iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a 6.6-inch display, placing it between the iPhone 16 Pro (6.3-inch) and iPhone 16 Pro Max (6.9-inch). Initially, Apple considered a 6.9-inch display for the Air model but reportedly dropped the idea over concerns related to the device’s structural integrity.
Despite its thin profile, the iPhone 17 Air is not expected to compromise on design elements. The dummy models indicate slim bezels, a Dynamic Island cutout, and the Camera Control button first introduced in the iPhone 16 series.
Unlike the Pro models, the iPhone 17 Air is rumoured to come with a single rear camera. This aligns it more closely with the iPhone 16e,
Apple’s expected entry-level device for 2024. Leaked images also suggest a wide camera bump spanning the phone’s entire width, resembling the Google Pixel 9 series.
The iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a 120Hz ProMotion display, typically seen on Apple’s Pro models. It will reportedly be powered by the A19 chipset, though it may not include a Pro variant of the processor.
iPhone 17 Air: Expected price
Pricing is expected to be around $900, making it comparable to the iPhone 16 Plus. Analysts suggest that if the Air model is well-received, Apple may continue exploring thinner designs, potentially paving the way for a port-free iPhone or a foldable device by 2026.
