Apple has recently unveiled the latest iteration of its iPad Air lineup, introducing two screen size options for the first time. The iPad Air 2022 features a slightly smaller 10.9-inch Liquid Retina True Tone display with a screen resolution of 2360×1640 pixels and supports Touch ID.
The iPad Air 2024 retains the same LED display technology as its predecessor. The 11-inch iPad Air 2024 offers a screen resolution of 2360 x 1640 pixels, matching that of the iPad Air 2022. However, the newer 13-inch iPad Air boasts a higher resolution of 2732 x 2048 pixels. Both models also support Touch ID for biometric authentication.
Apple has maintained consistency in the display technology for the newer iPad Air. For HDR content consumption, users will need to opt for the larger iPad Pro model, as neither of the iPad Air models supports HDR content.

The older iPad Air 2022 is equipped with the M1 chip featuring a 3.2GHz CPU clock speed, along with a Video decode engine and an Image signal processor (ISP).
The new iPad Air 2024 comes with the M2 chip, boasting a 3.49GHz CPU clock speed, which is 50% faster than the previous iPad Air 5th Gen. This version includes a Higher-bandwidth video decode engine and an updated ISP.
The latest iPad Air 2024 demonstrates significant performance improvements due to the inclusion of the M2 SoC. Apple has enhanced its Neural Engine, resulting in a 40% faster Neural Engine compared to its predecessor.
iPad Air 2024 vs iPad Air 2022: Cameras and Audio
The iPad Air 2022 features a 12MP rear camera and a 12MP front camera, which remains consistent with the 2024 iPad Air model.
The significant change between the iPad Air M1 and M2 lies in the placement of the front camera. The newer iPad Air positions the camera on the side of the tablet, introducing Center Stage support. This feature allows the camera to automatically adjust the frame around the subject and track movements within the room.
